Leota L. (Goodburn) Schindler, 87, of Camp Hill, Pa., formerly of Marcus, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009, in Hendersonville, N.C.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the Rev. Magrey deVega officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Leota was born Oct. 9, 1921, in rural Marcus, to Henry and Alma (Reusch) Goodburn. She graduated from Marcus High School.
She was married to Tobias Schindler on Feb. 1, 1944, in Dodge City, Kan. The couple lived in Camp Hill for many years, where they owned and operated Schindler's Restaurant.
She was member of Unity Church in Wertzville, Pa.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Schindler and his wife, Cheryl, of Flat Rock, N.C., David Schindler and his wife, Barbara, of Easton, Pa., and Donald Schindler of Ambler, Pa.; several grandchildren; Leota's special friend, Mitzi Anderson of Enola, Pa.; a brother, Gerald Goodburn and his wife, Marjorie, of Cherokee; two sisters-in-law, Betty Goodburn of Marcus and Leila and her husband, Dale Wolfe, of Cherokee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 1, 1981; a son, Dwayne Schindler, in 1978; two brothers, Elmer and Donald Goodburn; and a sister, Esther Green.
