Harry James Prosser, 90, passed away on February 1, 2009 in Hendersonville, NC. Mr. Prosser was born on June 12, 1918, to Earl Niles and Ruth Storms Prosser in North Tonawanda, NY. He was married for 62 years to Marjory Pond Prosser who preceded him in death on Decemeber 10, 2003.
A graduate of North Tonawanda High School and the University of Buffalo, he retired after 42 years of service to the Carborundum Co. of Niagara Falls, NY. He pastored the Williamsburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Williamsville, NY for nearly ten years.
Mr. Prosser was a B-24 pilot in the Army Air Corps in WWII, serving in Europe and the Pacific. He was a Lt. Col. in the US Air Force Reserves retiring as a liaison officer to the US Air Force Academy after 25 years of service.
At the time of his death Mr. Prosser was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hendersonville. He is survived by one brother, William Prosser, of Ardmore, OK; one sister, Janet Sciolino, of Kenmore, NY; children Kathryn Heeman of Hendersonville, Barbara Cooper of Winchester, VA and Peter Prosser of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren Gary Heeman, Vanessa Tegenkamp, Ryan Prosser, Kurt Cooper, Lauren Prosser and great grandson Elijah James Tegenkamp. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Elizabeth Geltz.
A memorial service and interment will take palce at Culpeper National Cemetery at a later date.
