Nathan Robert Parris Sr., 87, of Flat Rock, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Pardee Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Robert Napoleon and Birdel Rhodes Parris. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Dorothy Ray Parris and five brothers, Hugh, Grady, Clarence, Donald and Fred. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved gardening and caring for others.
He is survived by his son Robert Nathan Parris of Flat Rock; a daughter, Yvette Parris Surratt of Asheville; two brothers, Walter and wife Wanda and Ray and wife Dorothy all of Hendersonville; five sisters, Melba Gordon of Saluda, Rita Justus and husband Bud of Hendersonville, Irene Roper and husband R.L. of Mountain Home, Evelyne Norwood and husband Earl of Hendersonville and Iris Pack and husband Clyde of Mill Spring and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan Blackwell and Rev. Carroll Poole officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hendersonville Lions’ Club or Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 581 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
