Troy Monroe Osteen, 70, of Tuxedo, NC went home to be with Jesus, Sunday, November 9, 2008.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County the son of the late Harvey and Virginia Dare Johnson Osteen and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Arland and William.

He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, served in the US Army and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Betty Jane Drake Osteen; two sons, Troy Edward Osteen and wife Pamela of Locust Grove and Troy Lee Osteen of Tuxedo; a daughter, Sherry Krill and husband Bob of Penrose; two brothers, Lenoir Osteen of Mills River and Darrell Osteen of Zirconia; two sisters, Lois Blythe and Doris Cox both of Tuxedo; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Danielle, Stevie, Matthew, Richard, Logan and China and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 Wednesday, November 13, 2008 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. John Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 8:30 at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Lois Blythe on Mt. Olivet Road.
