Carrie Geneva Capps Maybin

Our Sympathies






    Carrie Geneva Capps Maybin, 87, passed away January 27, 2010 at Pardee Hospital. She was a native and life time resident of Henderson County and was proud that all her children lived within the local calling range of her telephone.

    She was the daughter of Sam and Pearlie Levi Capps. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln L. Maybin in 1991, her oldest son, Ted L. Maybin and his wife Becky Maybin, a brother, George Capps. She is survived by a brother, Gladson Capps and his wife, Bertha, Sister-in-law, Lillie Capps, one aunt, Willa Mae Boone, two uncles, Leo Levi and Homer Levi.

    She was a dedicated mother who spent her life in caring for her household and is also survived by her children and their families: Theron and Mary Lois Maybin, Gladys and Roy Ballard, Margaret Bailey, Troy and Rhonda Maybin, Homer and Terry Maybin, Jane and Robert Ballard, Joe and Sue Maybin, Lugenia and Edsel Hill, James and Jenifer Maybin, John and Joyce Maybin, Sammy and Lisa Maybin, Lanny and Tonya Maybin and Mitchell Maybin. She was a grandmother to 40 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

    A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Cedar Springs Baptist Church where she was a member, with Rev. Paul Chandler and Rev. Thad Dowdle officiating. Burial will be at the McDowell Cemetery in the Rock Creek Community.

    Visitation will be Friday, January 29 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Jackson Funeral Service also family and friends will be received Friday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Cedar Springs Fellowship Building and on Saturday following the service. At other times the family may be contacted at the home of Jane and Robert Ballard where she had lived for the past five years.

    Contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Cemetery Fund, Care of Elaine Capps, 10 Raven Rock Road, Zirconia, NC 28790.

    Jackson Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Update

     Due to the inclement weather, the visitation and service for Carrie Maybin has been postponed. Visitation will be Monday, February 1, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Jackson Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Cedar Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be at the McDowell Cemetery in the Rock Creek Community.
