Roland H. "Mark" Markham
Roland H. "Mark" Markham, 85, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Beystone Health and Rehab.
He was the son of the late Colonel Carl W. Markham and Esther Holden Markham and was also preceded in death by eight siblings.
He retired as Major from the US Army having served during WW II and the Korean Conflict, was a member of the American Legion in Kentucky, was past Rotary President in Kentucky and was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC.
He is survived by his loving wife Sarah, his daughter Lynn Roe of Elizabethton, Tennessee, two grandsons, David Roe and wife Kimberly and John Roe of Chicago, Illinois; two granddaughters, Kathryn and Caroline Roe and several nieces and nephews.
Roland loved his country, his church and Sunday School Class and especially his wife Sarah.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Mud Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Hefner officiating. Another memorial service and burial will take place at a later date in Elkton, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Youth Department of Mud Creek Baptist Church, 403 Rutledge Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28739-6243.
