Gertie Mae Laughter McCraw Corn
Gertie Mae Laughter McCraw Corn, 96, made her journey to heaven on Thursday, November 19, 2009.
Although she was a native of Henderson County she passed away in Homer, Illinois where she resided in recent years with her daughter, Louise.
She was the daughter of the late Dixie and Martha Laughter and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph William McCraw and Roy R. Corn, a daughter, Dera McCraw Brown, three sisters, Louise Justice, Adeline Gilbert and Theresa (Threesee) Laughter and four brothers, Earl, Calvin, Theodore and Jim.
She was a member of East Flat Rock Baptist Church and a long-time employee of several hosiery mills and Ruth Originals.
She was the beloved mother of all her children and is survived by two daughters, Louise McCraw Lewis and husband Melvin and Margaret McCraw Whitford and husband Dan and her son, Gary Corn and his wife Donna.
She was also dearly loved her fifteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service. She will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with a graveside service at 3:00 pm the same day.
