Arthur Izzi Jr., 88, of Hendersonville, NC passed away peacefully with his
loving family by his side, Friday, July 03, 2009 at the Elizabeth House.
He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Izzi Sr. and was also
preceded in death by a son, John Robert Izzi.
He was born and raised in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, lived most of his
life in St. Petersburg, Florida where he retired from Babcock & Wilcox Company
after 30 years of service then moved to Henderson County six years ago to be with
his family.
He attended Cornell and Columbia Universities and graduated from Brown
University with a degree in Engineering.
He served in the United States Navy as Lieutenant j.g. during WWII in the
Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Kathryn A. Izzi; two daughters,
Patricia Taylor and husband Fritz of Hendersonville and Pamela Cannon and
husband Duane of Hendersonville; one son, Richard Izzi and wife Joan of
Alabama; two grandchildren, Jessica Taylor and husband Kip and Brian Naples
and wife Veronica who reside in Hendersonville and two grandchildren, Patrick
Izzi and Andrea Cushing who reside out of state; seven great grandchildren,
Teddy, Cody, Kelli, Tapanga, Maya all of Hendersonville and Riley and Parker
who reside out of state; a sister-in-law, Muriel McFarlane; two nephews, Jim and
Larry McFarlane; a niece, Peggy Harriett and several great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 09, 2009 at
Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Father John Norton officiating. Military rites
will be conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard. A reception for family
and friends will follow.
