These two markers were ordered to honor the life of James Stepp Jr., a Revolutionary War soldier who is believed to be buried
in a local Henderson County cemetery.
It was ordered and will be placed by the Abraham Kuykendall Chapter of the Daughters Of The Revolution
in the near future.
This marker was placed by the Featherstone family at the Merrimon Featherstone family cemetery on October 21, 2005.
Cemeteries are an important part of our history and they need to be preserved for our future generations.
Burial grounds are a sacred place and provide a lot of information for genealogy and history.
Families should take interest in their own family cemeteries and make sure they are being kept
up and free of neglect or destruction.
Access to a cemetery that is on private property should be done appropriately. Please get permission
to enter private property beforehand. If permission is unobtainable or denied then check your local
statutes about entering private property for the reason of visiting a cemetery containing relatives.
The local Clerk of Court will also help you with this.
