William D. Atkinson, 85 of Flat Rock NC passed away Saturday May 30, 2009 at Regency Hospital of Greenville SC.
He was the son of the late William J. Atkinson and Emma Deighton Atkinson and was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Cumming who died in 1982.
A native of Niagara Falls NY he had been a resident of Flat Rock for the past 24 years. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and had volunteered with the Hendersonville IAM.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Carol Green Atkinson, one son Paul R. Atkinson and his wife Katie of Norfolk Conn, two grandsons Jay and Scott Atkinson and his brother in law Victor Green.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1pm at St James Episcopal Church with Father Joel Hafer officiating.
